The Northern Mockingbird is a very animated bird that performs elaborate mating ritual dances. They also will flash their wing patches to scare insects up when hunting.
The Northern Mockingbird can be found in southeastern Canada, the United States and Northern Mexico. Further south it is replaced by the Tropical Mockingbird. Mockingbirds are best known for their imitations of other bird calls as well as other sounds, such as car alarms. Immature or unmated males will often sing throughout the night. Males have a range of 50 - 200 songs. Females also sing, but not as loud and not as often.
