The Bald Eagle is a bird of prey that can be found in North America, Mexico and Canada and is recognized as the national bird and symbol of the United States. They remain a protected species in the United States. These large birds have up to 7-foot wingspan and weigh anywhere from 6 to 15 pounds. Females are about 25% larger than males. Bald Eagles return to the same nest each year and build onto the nest to the point that they reach massive proportions - up to 1,000 pounds!
