Widely distributed throughout North America, robins are very territorial birds that can be seen year-round, though many will migrate to southern states until late winter. Robins have eyes placed far back on the sides of their heads, which makes them cock their heads often to better see their surroundings. The American Robin is the state bird of Connecticut, Michigan and Wisconsin.
Robins are active mostly during the day and roost in trees or dense vegetation at night, particularly during the winter months.
